Dialogue[]
Offer your help to Vasco[]
- Vasco: De Sardet! I have a favor to ask.
- De Sardet: Very well, I’m listening.
- Vasco: Do you remember the story of Jonah?
- De Sardet: Of course.
- Vasco: Well, I’m like him, a donation to the sea. My family also gave me to the Nauts. I don’t know anything about my real family, except that they are probably affluent and from the Congregation. When I was born, the Nauts and the merchant princes had a…complex relationship. I must’ve been used to settle a debt or forge a truce, but that doesn’t matter. The mystery of my origins has now become an…obsession. I need to know where I come from. If I were patient enough, I'd wait to become a fleet commander and then I would be told. But since being laid off, such a promotion seems somewhat improbable.
- De Sardet: And you want me to help you find this information?
- Vasco: You understand correctly. The records of all seamen stationed on the island are in their respective ports. Mine must be in the harbor office in New Serene, and it must contain my family name. But if I go there, I'd be spotted right away. Could you go there and bring the file to me?
- (If you have a different personal quest active and need to go back to Vasco to accept the quest)
- Vasco: I’ve always hoped to one day find out my biological family name. But…I cannot go to the harbor office in person to see my file. Could you go there and bring the file to me?
- Accept and take care of it now
- De Sardet: Of course. But you’ll have to come with me to the port and tell me a little more.
- Vasco: Right. Also, I don’t want any Nauts to be hurt in the process. Despite my desire to know my origins, the Nauts are still my family.
- De Sardet: Don’t worry, we’ll be discreet.
- Put it off until later
- De Sardet: Another time, maybe. Alas, I'm too busy at the moment.
- Vasco: I understand. Come back when you have more time.
- Accept and take care of it now
Scout the harbor master's office[]
- Vasco: Here we are. We have a good view from here. The harbor office is well-guarded, both outside and inside. Getting through the main entrance is impossible.
- De Sardet: There must be a blind spot. There's always one.
- Vasco: You could dress as a Naut and go through the back door, but someone may recognize you inside.
- De Sardet: I'll need to be much more discreet. A potion could help me.
- Vasco: That is an option, yes, but since I'd rather avoid hurting any Nauts, I've made some inquiries. The harbor office has an arrangement with Dieter, from the brothel. Girls come every night, with wine.
- De Sardet: I see. You want us to spike the wine so that they sleep during our search.
- Vasco: It's a proven technique. And I can assure you they do not sniff the wine before drinking it.
- De Sardet: Right, let's get [a sleeping potion | some sleeping pills]. Then, we'll go see Dieter.
Convince Dieter, the owner of the brothel, to help you[]
- Dieter: Yes, why? You looking to have a good time?
- De Sardet: It seems like you are sending girls and wine to the harbor office every night?
- Dieter: So? There’s no law against that, is there?
- De Sardet: No, and I’m not here to stop you.
- Vasco: Listen, Dieter, we just want to add a secret ingredient to your wine tonight.
- Dieter: What? Are you joking? Are you trying to slip a laxative in it?
- Vasco: We were thinking more of sleeping pills. Nothing bad, you see.
- Dieter: Listen, I have nothing against a little prank, but I can’t risk losing my best customers!
- Charisma - Try to convince him
- De Sardet: Captain Vasco is very influential among the Nauts. Maybe he can help expand your clientele even further?
- Vasco: If you accept, I could arrange for your “agreement” to come to fruition…in San Matheus, for example.
- (If successful)
- Dieter: San Matheus? I would have to recruit, but yeah, that would be interesting.
- De Sardet: So then, we agree?
- Dieter: Yes, that's fine. Tonight, your friends will receive their delivery…“seasoned.” Now, give me the sleeping potion.
- (If failed)
- Dieter: After such a blow, I may well win a deal in San Matheus, but I'm pretty sure I'll lose the one I already have. You will have to find another way to perform your little joke, sorry.
- Offer a bribe (100 gold)
- De Sardet: I did not think for a moment to request this service without offering fair compensation for your efforts.
- Dieter: Ah, now you’re speaking my language! If those are the terms, I'll even put gunpowder in it. (laughs)
- De Sardet: So then, we agree?
- Dieter: Yes, that's fine. Tonight, your friends will receive their delivery…“seasoned.” Now, give me the sleeping potion.
- Let Kurt intervene
- Kurt: My friends kindly asked you for a simple favor, Lieutenant. But if you prefer orders, we can do it that way too.
- De Sardet: So then, we agree?
- Dieter: Yes, that's fine. Tonight, your friends will receive their delivery…“seasoned.” Now, give me the sleeping potion.
- Charisma - Try to convince him
Return to the port when ready[]
If Dieter was convinced to help[]
- Vasco: Thanks to Dieter, you should be able to slip into the harbor master’s office after dark. But you should still dress as one of us, just to make sure you avoid confrontation.
- De Sardet: Good idea. I’ll see to it.
- Vasco: It’s pitch black. It’s the perfect moment. Dieter’s girls should be here soon. What do you wanna do?
- Wait for Dieter’s girls
- De Sardet: We’ll wait for Dieter’s girls to do their work as planned, then we’ll enter.
- Vasco: Very well. It’s definitely the safer option.
- De Sardet: Dieter’s girls are gone. Your guards should get a good night's sleep now!
- Vasco: You should go. I’ll wait here as planned. I can't risk getting caught there.
- De Sardet: Don’t worry, I'll make sure not to hurt anyone.
- Vasco: Good luck, De Sardet.
- Come back later
- De Sardet: I think we should wait a little longer.
- Vasco: As you wish.
- Result: Must return and choose to Wait for Dieter's girls
- Wait for Dieter’s girls
If Dieter was not convinced to help[]
- Vasco: It looks like my plan has fallen apart.
- De Sardet: I'll have to be discreet.
- Vasco: You should dress like a Naut, and maybe, take a haze potion.
- De Sardet: Yes, good idea.
- Vasco: It’s pitch black. It’s the perfect moment. What do you wanna do?
- Wait here until nightfall
- De Sardet: I’m ready. We just have to wait for nightfall.
- De Sardet: Alright, it’s dark enough. It’s time to move.
- Vasco: I’ll wait here as planned. I can't risk getting caught there.
- De Sardet: Don’t worry, I'll make sure not to hurt anyone.
- Vasco: Good luck, De Sardet.
- Come back later
- De Sardet: I think we should wait a little longer.
- Vasco: As you wish.
- Result: Must return and choose to Wait here until nightfall
- Wait here until nightfall
- Naut: Damn, lost that bloody key again!
- (After picking up the harbor master's office key) Naut: Ah, it can't be! Where is it?
Find Vasco to assess the situation[]
- De Sardet: I was able to recover your file, Vasco. And nobody saw me.
- Vasco: Wonderful! You did everything perfectly. So, let’s see what this file can tell us... So I was right. My real name is Léandre, son of the d’Arcy family from Serene. Nobles, I suppose?
- De Sardet: Yes. I must admit that I had no idea they had given a son to the Nauts.
- Vasco: To think that I spent my childhood polishing ship bridges when I could’ve been wearing silk.
- De Sardet: I'm sorry for you, Vasco, but growing up in nobility is not as simple as it sounds.
- Vasco: Really? Well, whatever. I’ve learned my real name thanks to you. That’s what I wanted.
- De Sardet: Léandre d’Arcy… I remember coming across a d’Arcy at my uncle’s court. Your brother, no doubt.
- Vasco: My brother? What was he like?
- De Sardet: It was a long time ago, we were children. I couldn’t tell you what he looks like today.
- Vasco: A brother? I wonder if we are alike despite our completely different lives. Thank you for sharing this, and for telling me about him. You gave me back my identity. This is more important than the Nauts care to admit.
